We are always looking for fun, easy and cheap ideas for activities for our family.  Especially on Family Night.  This one has to be one of our favorites!

Water Balloon Launchers.

Reed studied one that my brother in law had and then we made these out of old jeans and that tubing that when I was a youngster we used to make water weanies (you know where you put the end of a pen in one end and knot the other end).  Anyway, I'm not sure of what it's called so if you do go ahead and remind me in the comments.

We launch these in the field behind our house.

While some launch the others go out and try to catch.

We had such a great time doing this last night.

Saving Money

So if you know us, you know my husband is really good at saving money.

He's actually really good at not spending money, which leads to saving money.

I'm not as good as he is.

I try.

But I'm the one that spends.

Of course, I am the one in charge of groceries, paying bills, music lessons, keeping everyone clothed, gifts...you get the idea.

Anyway, he was really excited to discover he could buy those new lightbulbs on ebay and replace all the ones in our house.

He figured out the details and doing this would save us $300 a year on electricity.

So when they came, he put them in.

He started with the ones that were burned out.

He then proudly announced he had just saved us money.

I quickly informed him that he actually had just cost us more...at least 12 (yah, embarrassing I know) of those light bulbs were burned out and not costing us anything.

Imaginations

Riding home through the canyon the other day we got started on a story fest.  The fest began in an effort to distract the younger ones from the fact that the older ones got to stay up the canyon for a sleepover with the cousins.

One story lead to another and another and soon Hadley was saying, "anymore stories" as soon as one finished.  We had pretty much exhausted our stories (or were simply just exhausted) and asked her if she had a story. Now to preface this I should say that our stories had all been real, but because she hadn't been there I guess she had no way to know this.

Here is her story:

"One time when I was a baby we went to the zoo, and I was in the stroller.

You forgot me and I got left there and a tiger ate me inside his stomach and it was dirty.

Then the tiger got nice and took me out of his mouth.

I was so messy.

He had a wash cloth sitting by him and I used (“oozed”) it to clean myself.

And then you came back and got me."

Heard at Walmart

"Quit drooling" in a not so nice voice.

I think the toddler must have then said...okay mom, sorry about that.

Of course I was at Walmart on a real quick get infant tylenol, milk and soap refill...only to realize after having gone through the self checkout, that I didn't have my wallet.

Yah, it was at home in the baby bag.

I then went to get the same thing at Rite Aid...since it's closer...and bought childrens tylenol.

3rd trip was a charm however.

We now have Infants Tylenol.

Everything takes 3x as long...and it's not because the baby needs changing :)
